Zachary Goodie
Zachary Goodie is from North Potomac, MD and graduates with an Engineering Major and Mathematics Minor. The diverse set of classes and projects offered at Wake Forest Engineering have allowed him to take part in interesting projects that have let him cultivate a passion for electric vehicles. Zachary’s capstone design project, Promoting Electric Propulsion for Small Craft, focus on building an electric powered boat that can complete a five-mile race. His team is working under the guidance of technical coaches Dr. Hunter Bachman and Prof. Will Crowe, who are helping them find innovative solutions that will increase electric propulsion systems in naval contexts. In addition to his capstone design project, Zachary participated in several undergraduate research projects in Prof. Kyle Luthy’s underwater robotics lab, where he developed a recovery system for deep ocean cameras and sensors.
Zachary’s is a brother of Alpha Epsilon Pi where he served as Philanthropy Chair and the Greeks Go Green representative, also he is a member of the Boxing club and Alpha Phi Omega. His favorite memory from engineering was from Control Systems and Instrumentation (EGR 311) where he invented a posture sensor. After creating it he took it home and enlisted his brother to wear it around the house, alerting his family every time his posture needed correcting. Zachary is an Engineering Honors student after passing the FE exam.
