Catalina Murray
Catalina Murray is from Palos Verdes, CA and has a passion for electrical and computer engineering as the discipline allows her to work with both the hardware and software of a system. Her favorite course while in Wake Forest Engineering was Control Systems and Instrumentation because designing a circuit and utilizing sensors according to specific implementation techniques not only stimulated her problem-solving skills, but also allowed her to directly see the tangible effects of my work Catalina has taken her senior year to work on her capstone design project, Promoting Electric Propulsion, where she and her peers have worked to design a small, electrically-propelled watercraft to efficiently and safely complete a five mile race under a given budget. In addition to her senior design work, Catalina held an internship at the Aerospace Cooperation where she was responsible for analyzing data from launch vehicles and using spectral analysis techniques to determine details about the vehicle’s dynamic environments.
Catalina has been an active member of the Wake Forest student body, having been involved in both the Chi Omega sorority and the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity, volunteering for a multitude of outreach events. She has been able to take on leadership roles especially in areas she is most passionate about such as environmental sustainability.
Catalina will be attending the University of Florida and pursuing a PhD in electrical and computer engineering under Dr. Jahidul Islam after graduating from Wake Forest University.
