Josh Prillaman
Josh Prillaman is from Martinsville, VA and has spent his time developing a business based, technically oriented mindset with a specific focus on software and system engineering while in Wake Forest Engineering. “Wake Forest has helped to provide me with a well-rounded education which has served as a huge help as I home in on what I enjoy” shared Prillman. During his senior year, Josh has worked with peers on his senior design capstone project, Design of a Bioreactor Control System. This project focuses on designing an automated control system for a bioreactor with the goal of increasing the efficiency and safety of the device while decreasing the time physicians must allot to patients in need. This project is being conducted under the guidance of Dr. Carlos Kengla and Dr. Olga Pierrakos (Wake Forest Engineering). In addition to his senior design work, Josh has performed undergraduate research under Dr. Erin Henslee writing code for an e-sports research project. He has interned at New College Institute in Martinsville, VA where he served as a leader of a team of engineering interns, supporting the local robotics program. He currently acts as a web designer and technical support for Da Capo Virginia, developing and implementing a web-based platform for the purpose of collecting donations for the company.
Outside of his coursework, Josh has worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant under Dr. Di Vittorio (Wake Forest Engineering) and has acted as the co-director of the Engineering and Learning Support Center. He has acted as the associate director of the Pre-College Research Institute developing and teaching coursework on high order math, physics, and coding. Josh has been a member of Alpha Phi Omega and has acted as the President’s Ball Logistics Coordinator for Wake Forest University in 2019. His favorite memory while in Wake Forest Engineering has been meeting with clients and stakeholders for the first time during his capstone senior design project.
Josh plans to work in the position of a Consulting Engineer with Cisco Systems after graduation where he will be able to work in a client facing role advising and implementing current Cisco technology.
