Wake Downtown
Wake Forest University’s Department of Engineering is located in Wake Downtown, in the heart of Winston-Salem’s Innovation Quarter. Wake Downtown is also the home of two other undergraduate academic programs, Medicinal Chemistry (Department of Chemistry) and Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (Department of Biology).
Across the street from Bailey Park and the recently renovated Bailey Power Plant, we share our building with the Wake Forest School of Medicine and are one block away from Biotech Place, which houses the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the School of Medicine.

Growing “Into” Wake Downtown
The Department of Engineering embraces and supports Wake Forest University’s unique culture by combining the liberal arts core, innovative entrepreneurship, and engineering. This culture influences how the Department of Engineering is developing the B.S. Engineering curriculum and how we use our spaces to create enriching and effective learning experiences for our students. Because both Wake Downtown and the Department of Engineering are relatively new Wake Forest spaces, we are still in the process of growing into our facilities, which includes an active process of facility design and development to meet our students’ educational needs.
