Gabrielle Prichard Headshot

Gabrielle Prichard is from Raleigh, North Carolina and majored in Engineering with a Computer Science minor. Wake Engineering allowed her to gain a better understanding of the various fields within engineering while the flexibility of the elective classes helped her explore and identify her passions. As a result, she has developed a passion for biomedical engineering, data science, and computer science while taking classes within the program. Gabrielle’s favorite engineering class was EGR 314: Capstone Design II because she felt as though the project reflected her passion for both computer science and engineering. “In addition, I have enjoyed engaging with our client to identify his business problem, and working on a team to iterate on a solution,” she shares.

Guided by Dr. Olga Pierrakos, Gabrielle conducted literary research on vortex formation in the left ventricle, mitral valves, and prosthetic heart valves. She assembled a ViVitro Heart Simulator to utilize in heart valve research, which consisted of a ViVitro Model Heart, SuperPump, Flow Measuring System, and ViviTest data acquisition system. Gabrielle has also worked at Johnson & Johnson as a Data Science Intern. There, she tracked specific needs and deliverables identified during online meetings and then as a coder, she wrote technical forecasting models and data visualizations to help provide solutions. The internship not only honed in on her technical coding skills, but also gave her experience in working with cross-regional teams. Outside of the classroom, Gabrielle served as a member of the Student Advisory Board, Women in STEM, and Society of Women Engineers. After graduation, Gabrielle will be working as a Cloud Solution Engineer at Oracle in Austin, TX.
