Maxim Belyayev
Maxim (Max) Belyayev is from Glastonbury, CT and majored in Engineering with minors in Russian and Economics. This unique combination of studies prepared Max to work at Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies subsidiary, as an intern in Operations Strategy. There, he helped his team understand the relative strengths and weaknesses of each manufacturing site and business unit via productivity analyses. His team used this info to make decisions about closing, moving, and expanding sites. Max also created a website for the company to access this information, so aside from learning business operations, he learned how to code as well! Max’s overall interests are Environmental and Civil Engineering thus he enjoyed the wide array of technical electives dedicated to those interests, specifically Prof. Lutzweiler’s class in Structural Engineering and Dr. Di Vittorio’s class in Hydraulics and Hydrology.
Max’s favorite memory in Engineering has been getting to know and interact with the people in his cohort. “We have so many people that come from different backgrounds and hold really unique interests. I’m grateful for the energy everyone brings, the inspiration, the interesting conversation, and I’m excited to see what our cohort will accomplish in the future” he shares. Outside of class, he has been involved in Greek Life, Discovering Education through Student Knowledge (D.E.S.K), and Project Pumpkin. Max will be working at Otis under its Operations Leadership Development Program (L.D.P.) after graduation. He also hopes to attend engineering grad school in the future to attain Professional Engineer (P.E.) and Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degrees.
