Morgan Wallace

Morgan is from Teton Village, WY and majored in Engineering with double minors in Mathematics and Computer Science. She had been interested in sustainability for years and Wake Engineering has further fostered this interest! “The Engineering Department was quick to provide dynamic, customer facing projects from the beginning of my college experience. A few weeks into [my] freshman year, I was running tests to see if the Wake Downtown Campus had solar capacity then presenting information to stakeholders,” she shares. Morgan continued to explore the field of sustainability by selecting a year-long Capstone project that focused on developing a low cost per unit power solar thermal system. Morgan enjoyed the community that the Engineering program has fostered, stating, “from freshman year all the way to senior year, if I saw another engineering student in one of my other math, science, or social science classes I knew instantly [that] I had a friend in the class.” She has appreciated the overall camaraderie within Wake Engineering.

Guided by Tina Strates, Associate Project Manager at Wake Forest University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering, Morgan worked on the BRP Youth Football Study. During this hands-on internship, she conducted heat-sensor concussion research by analyzing helmet impacts. She has also worked for General Electric Renewable Energy on the Services Onshore-Wind Engineering team. This experience solidified her interest in working in renewable energy by teaching her further about wind technology. Outside of the classroom, Morgan was involved in a variety of extracurricular activities. She was an On-Campus Coordinator for Women in STEM, rush chair for Alpha Kappa Psi, and a member of the Club Lacrosse team. After graduation, Morgan will be joining Schneider Electric in their Cross-Functional Leadership Development Program.
