Mr. Paul McIlvaine
Paul worked as a Project Engineer for the Naval Air Systems Command on the A6, P3, S3 & E2 aircraft; and Assistant Program Manager for Research &Development on the Advanced Air to Air Missile Project. He subsequently transferred to Headquarters, Marine Corps, where he was a civilian acquisition project officer on advanced ground-based tactical command & control systems. He later became a Professor of Engineering Management, Technical Management Department Chair, Director of Corporate Planning, and Associate Dean at the Defense Acquisition University. He served on the Board of Directors of the Society of Logistic Engineers and has authored over 50 publications. His Honors and Awards include the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Medal; Department of the Army Commanders Medal for Civilian Service; Department of Defense Superior Civilian Service Medal; and Defense Acquisition University Hall of Fame Award.
In addition to his engineering work, Paul has sung as a professional tenor in over 50 Operas and Oratorios, and in Musical Theatre. He performed 3 times in Carnegie Hall (New York) and sang with The Washington Opera, The Virginia Opera, The Opera Orchestra of New York, and the Teatro Nacional in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He has also performed as tenor soloist with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Opera Camerata of Washington, Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, Handel Choir of Baltimore and Delaware Symphony Orchestra.
Paul McIlvaine was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. He currently lives with his wife, Dr. Kathleen McHale, in the Washington, D.C. area. They enjoy spending summers at their home in Bethany Beach, Delaware. They have three children; Andrew, James, and Christopher; and four grandchildren; Grant Alexander, Cameron Rose, Bryce Harvey and Margot Ann.
