Sharene Pierce has over 20 years of engineering and executive leadership experience in the energy industry. She recently became the Vice President for Customer Experience and Services Operational Transformation at Duke Energy. Prior to this role, she served as Vice President, Customer Delivery Business Improvement, delivering executive leadership to an organization of 6k employees. She led a team of six and managed the largest portfolio of over 20k energy users. Sharene worked across nine business units to stand up the company’s first enterprisewide user adoption and process adherence scorecard which achieved a 50% improvement over 18 months. She managed contracts with vendors exceeding $1BN and directs a $29M budget. Sharene serves as a trusted advisor to C-Suite leadership and ensures KPIs and the reporting structure are firmly in place across this new organization.  

Earlier in her career, Sharene successfully serve in a number of roles within Duke Energy and Progress Energy prior to that. Sharene is a results-focused executive bringing a dynamic background steering enterprise projects, developing and implementing forward-thinking strategies, and optimizing operations.  

Ms. Pierce is currently enrolled in an MBA program at Wake Forest University with an expected completion date of Dec. 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering from NC State University. Sharene is a Professional Engineer (PE) and a Certified Energy Manager (CEEM). She serves on the NCSU Park Scholarship Regional Selection Lead & Selection Committee and volunteers as a STEM Guest Speaker for local schools and Project Scientist.
