Anna Kate Himes
Anna Kate Himes is from Nashville, TN and has an interest in biomedical engineering. For the past academic year, she has worked as a member of the Design of a Prosthetic Heart Valve for Pediatric Patients capstone senior design team. The team has designed an expanded polytetrafluoroethylene heart valve to improve availability for pediatric patients and develop a valve that can grow with patients as they age. Last summer, Anna Kate interned with a local startup as a biomedical engineer and developed skills in the design and implementation of protypes for an optical nerve visualization system. Anna Kate has also worked as an undergraduate research assistance at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she interned with the department of Radiation Oncology.
Outside of her coursework and her research, Anna Kate has been an active member of the Wake Forest student body. After graduation, Anna Kate will work as a consultant at Capgemini in Nashville.
