Audrey Crowder

Audrey Crowder is from Brevard, NC and has prioritized a hands-on approach to learning since she began at Wake Forest. She has enjoyed many classes and opportunities within the Engineering department, particularly her EGR 112 course in which she was able to go to an ambulance center and experiment with transfer methods by analyzing data. Audrey’s senior design project, the Department of Energy Solar Decathlon, is to design a net zero energy home for middle class families while considering both the environmental and economic impacts.  Her team is working under the guidance of Dr. Hunter Bachman (WFU Engineering) and Prof. Nick Lutzweiler (WFU Engineering) to protype their concept and improve energy efficiency in home construction.  Audrey has also participated in undergraduate research for three consecutive years and assisted with processing and segmenting Ct scans of bones into 3D models using Materialize Mimics.

Audrey worked for the Wake Forest football recruitment office for two years, taught after school programs in Winston-Salem for America Reads, frequently volunteered at Campus Gardens, and was part of the Engineering Student Advisory Council her senior year.

The different classes and electives offered by the Engineering Department have allowed her to “pick and choose the things [she] really finds interesting.” She has developed a passion for the program! After graduation, Audrey will be working at Booz Allen as a Business Analyst with the Global Defense Group.
