Will Chen
Will Chen is from Beijing, China and is interested in mechanical engineering with a focus on prosthetics. Will is a member of the Autonomous Pelagic Profiling System capstone senior design team under the guidance of Dr. Kyle Luthy and Dr. Hunter Bachman (Wake Forest Engineering). The goal of the project is to provide an inexpensive means of exploration for environmental scientists and ecologists interested in collecting and retrieving data to a depth of 100 meters within bodies of water. Will has also interned at First Solar as an electromechanical instrumentation intern and spent a semester in the Wake West study away program in California, taking courses with a focus on entrepreneurship while working at his internship. In addition to his internship and coursework, Will has taken the time to obtain an undergraduate research position under Dr. Saami Yazdani (Wake Forest Engineering) in the biofluids lab, designing and constructing a bioreactor to simulate the stretch, rotation, and bend of peripheral arteries. The project is aimed to bridge the gap between bench-top testing and pre-clinical modeling of peripheral arterial drug delivery.
Will has held position as the treasurer of the Wake Forest E-Sports club and was on the student advisory board for Wake Forest Campus Recreation. He worked as a teaching assistant, grading assignments and holding office hours. His favorite memory at Wake Forest Engineering is the time he spent on his undergraduate research work.
Will has been accepted into the Wake Forest MSBA program and plans to pursue a PhD in mechanical engineering after graduation.
